The Basic Steps to Improving Your Golf Swing
By: John Cunningham
Playing golf really requires initiative on the side of the player and it requires one to take time and develop the playing method that one deems fit. A golfer should ensure that he practices the fundamentals of the game until they are completely soaked into their muscles because this really helps in building confidence, which ultimately leads to resounding success in the game. There are two basic steps that a golfer can follow to ensure that they improve on their golf swing and one of the most basic things is make sure that the golfer keeps the head looking straight at the ball. The golfers head position should be straight in the line with the spine and the nose should be raised up a bit to make sure that the left shoulder gets under the chin while when one wants to swing. Many players find themselves tucking their heads to their chests trying to keep their heads still looking down the golf ball but unfortunately, a good performance is not guaranteed because this inhibits a good golf swing.
If the golfer has difficulty in keeping the head straight and the eye on the ball, he should make sure he assumes the correct posture whereby the feet and the knees are in position but they should make sure that the head and the back are held straight, while bending forward slightly and looking straight at the ball. Trying a swing in this position will makes the left shoulder likely to hit the chin. The golfer should make sure that the head does not move from side to side and this will be by ensuring that the eyes are fixed on the ball. One should then go slowly through the back swing and downswing positions of the swing. The golfer should practice this motion while keeping their straight to focus on the ball. This exercise can be practiced in the backyard and it should be done for about 25 times progressively, after which one is supposed to take a break before starting all over again. This acts as the best time to act on minor corrections such as the head and the body position, which is needed in keeping the eyes straight. The exercise helps in training the body and the muscle to 'remember' the position needed to perform a movement correctly.
The other basic step that works perfectly in improving golf swing is to relax, this is something that sounds easy, but it is hard to maintain sometimes. Relaxing the muscles helps in maintaining good balance for a perfect golf swing. Balance is the foundation of every golf swing. The best this for practicing balance is assuming the address position with the golfer's club by relaxing the body and trying to hold it there for about 30 seconds. In a nutshell, keeping the head straight and maintenance of good balance are the two fundamentals for a good golf swing. These two basics can teach a golfer how to improve their golf in a faster way although it required much practice.
